Bernie was the senior and managing law partner in the Kansas City, Missouri firm Levy & Craig, P.C., until 2001. He served as a board member of the Legal Aid and Public Defenders Society of Kansas City from 1984 to 1990. He was selected as the presiding arbitrator of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD); from 1990 to 1995 was a designated arbitrator for the business section of the American Arbitrators Association; and was an arbitrator and mediator for the Supreme Court of Missouri. Civic activities in the Kansas City area include serving on the Board of the Kansas City Symphony and the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, both until 2004. Bernie is a Trustee of the Naples Shelter for Abused Women and the Gentlemen Against Domestic Abuse organizations. In addition to his successful law practice, he has been an active investor in commercial real estate development and ownership of multi-family, office buildings, hotels and shopping centers throughout the country and abroad. He is a member of the board of directors and serves in executive capacities for a number of business organizations.
